Valparaíso – Chile
Valparaiso is a Chilean town and commune located in the central coast of mainland Chile. It is the capital of the region and of the homonymous province. Along with other neighboring towns ( Viña del Mar, Concon, Quilpué , Villa Alemana and Limache ) is part of the Greater Valparaíso metropolitan area. In 2012, the municipality had 294,848 inhabitants. Its metropolitan area with 979,127 inhabitants is one of the three most populated of Chile.
The city is the headquarters of the National Congress, the Commander in Chief of the Chilean Navy and other public services and state institutions of national character as the National Council for Culture and the Arts, the Undersecretary of Fisheries , the National Service customs and the National Fisheries and Aquaculture .
Valparaíso is in the form of a large natural amphitheater, being located in a bay surrounded by hills, where most of the population lives.
While the port occupies the sea border the city plan, administrative, commercial and financial center localizes between the foot of the hills and the sea.
