In my research, I investigate how evolutionary forces —ranging from cellular processes to the ecology and lifestyles of organisms— impact the evolution of genes, genomes, and phenotypes. My primary questions focus on the forces that shape the evolution of macromolecular structures, functions, and interactions at a genome-wide level, as well as their consequences for organismal adaptation. To explore these questions, I employ techniques from bioinformatics and computational biology, quantitative descriptions of the evolutionary process, statistical analysis of empirical data, computer simulations, and mathematical modeling.
