Two young people from Providencia aspire to connect school communities around the world to fight bullying and violence, with the educational startup Tribu Monsta, the winning project of the Chilean version of Falling Walls Lab. The recognition will allow this group of developers to represent our country in a global science and innovation competition, which brings together leaders in different disciplines from more than 60 countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The technological platform, which has already been recognized as a leading project in Latin America by the U.S. Government\u2019s Bureau of Education and piloted in India, is a safe social media for students, teachers, and parents, which uses playful and supportive challenges to enhance the development of socio-educational skills to fight bullying and violence.<\/p>\n

It is estimated that one out of every three children and young people in the world are victims of this problem. \u201cEducational communities are suffering a serious crisis in learning and emotional health,\u201d says Eduardo Castillo, one of the founders of the Startup. \u201cThis award motivates and empowers us, it tells us that we are on the right way\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are convinced that our idea can break down the walls of violence and bullying, which have serious consequences in the short, medium and long term for children and teenagers: stress, anguish, anxiety, depression, which have increased especially in these times of pandemic\u201d.<\/p>\n

Tribu Monsta was one of eleven teams of researchers from four regions of the country that were part of the defining day, which was organized by the Interdisciplinary Centro Interdisciplinario de Neurociencia de Valpara\u00edso (CINV), the Ciencia Joven Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service and the Falling Walls Foundation.<\/p>\n

Juan Carlos Garc\u00eda, executive director of CINV, commented that the national final of Falling Walls stood out for its diversity: four regions participated (Antofagasta, Valpara\u00edso, Santiago and Biob\u00edo), and also researchers from different fields of knowledge: health, education, environment and urban transport, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a different version, but one that reflects very well the spirit of Falling Walls: in the face of difficulties, new answers must be found. The participants showed a great diversity of proposals and realities. The world has brought us this year great questions in health, environment and the way we communicate,\u201d stated Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s call shows us that diversity and collaboration are central elements in promoting science that impacts and can change lives,\u201d highlighted Oscar Contreras, president of Ciencia Joven Foundation.<\/p>\n
